Lady Pirates, Tigers claim team titles at relays

The annual Tiger Relays were held at Bay High on Wednesday April 1st. On the soggy turf at Joe D. McCullouch Stadium, the Bay High Tigers and the Pass Christian Lady Pirates claimed the boys and girls team titles, respectively.

The Tigers nipped Poplarville and SSC with 96 points while the Hornets and the Rocks had 95 points each. Pass Christian scored 87 points followed by Vancleave 79, Forrest County AHS 50 and Pearl River Central 46.

In the girls' division, the Lady Pirates scored 144 points followed by OLA with 100, Bay High 97, Poplarville 80, Vancleave 64, PRC 56 and Forrest County AHS 30.

Top finishers for the Tigers in the boys' division were Josh Hawkins who won the 100m dash in 11.03 and placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 41'4". Rahien Lyons took second in the high jump at 5'10".

Demitry Johnson claimed the 200m dash and E.J. Taylor placed second in the 400m dash. The 400m and 800m relay team of Johnson, Tevin Lewis, Brandon Harris and Hawkins won in 43.3 seconds and 1:32, respectively. The 1600m relay team of Taylor, Lewis, Devon Narcisse and Daron Bell placed second.

The Rocks were led by Dale Johnson who won the discus with a throw of 123' 8 ? ". Josh Gibson claimed top honors in the pole vault with a height of 10' while Ian Larsen won the high jump with a leap of 6'.

Geon Ho Yoo won the 110m high hurdles while Matt Mayeaux won the 1600m run. Sawyer Danielson placed second in the 3200m run.

The Pirates were led by double-winner Phillippe Moore in the long jump and triple jump with top marks of 22'5" and 43' 3 ? ", respectively.

Cody Brown placed second in the pole vault with 9'6" while Jonathan Stephens took third in the 3200m run.

Stanley Magee placed second in the 100m dash while Trae Ausmer placed third in the 110m high hurdles. Christian Lizana took third in the 400m dash while Daniel Monjarres was third in the 300m intermediate hurdles. Pass Christian also placed third in the 1600m relay.

The Lady Pirates claimed either a first, second or third place finish in each event at the meet. In the field events, Alex Hoang won the pole vault at 7'6" while Paige Jones claimed the high jump with a height of 5'.

Arriane Ausmer was second in the long jump with 15'1" and Rachel Dedeaux placed third in both the shotput (28'7") and discus (82'11"). Senda Robinson took third in the triple jump at 29'5".

Jones also won the 100m and 200m dashes. The 400m relay team of Mykeal Hall, Iesha McKay, Arrianne Ausmer and Rita Ausmer took first place in 52.46 seconds while the 800m relay team of Jones, McKay, Arrianne Ausmer and Rita Ausmer were clocked in 1:53 for top honors.

The 1600m relay team of Hoang, Kay Butler, Amarianna Cochla and Robinson crossed the tape first.

Amber McAuther rounded out the first place winners with a win in the 300m low hurdles.

Lacy Moran placed second in the 3200m run while Hall was second in the 100m low hurdles. Butler took third in the 400m dash while unidentified runners for Pass Christian claimed second in both the 800m and 1600m runs.

Our Lady Academy was led by Samantha Bradford with a win in the discus (87') and third in the pole vault while her sister Sabrina Bradford earned top honors in the 100m low hurdles (17.67). Nikki Reader won the 400m dash and an unidentified runner from OLA won the 1600m run. Shelby McConnell placed third in the high jump (4').

Erin Gibson was third in the 100m dash with a time of 13.67 while an unidentified runner was third in the 800m run.
The Lady Tigers were paced by a second place finish by Kristian Lyons in the 100m dash (13.66) and a third place finish in the long jump (14'6").

Brooke Miller was second in the shotput with a throw of 28'7" while Breanna Hart was second in the triple jump with a leap of 29'9".

Kinsley Spiers and Holly Sweeney each placed second in the pole vault (6'6") and high jump (4'10"), respectively. Raven Williams placed second in the 200m dash.

The 400m relay team of Latoya Williams, Spiers, Kanisha Staten and Williams placed second with a time of 54.84. The 800m relay team of Lyons, Staten, Spiers and Williams also took second place in 1:55.
